One small space, two big languages: Music and Costume
At the intersection of music and fashion, there are encounters that are not only aesthetic – but also evoke deep harmony in the soul. The collaboration between Root Rotation – a contemporary fashion brand with a minimalist and sophisticated DNA – and One Plus One Band – a Vietnamese indie band pursuing a philosophy of free and honest creativity – is an inspiring testament to that. In the project of covering the song “Free Fall Tower” by Bi Loi, Root Rotation is not only a companion in the costume department, but also a pioneer in the path of emotions through the language of images.
An emotional meeting
Coincidentally but not coincidentally, the resonance between Root Rotation and One Plus One Band is inspired by the core values that both sides share: minimalism but depth, the search for self through creativity, and above all – belief in the beauty of imperfect things.
One Plus One Band believes that “music is a safe place, an open space, a place where people can truly be themselves”. For them, music is not a place to show off perfection, but a space that welcomes fragility, scratches and imperfections – because they are what make a person. Similarly, Root Rotation chooses the language of fashion as a way to tell the story of maturity, of genuine emotions cherished in every stitch, every choice of material.
The collaboration is more than just a visual project – it is a meeting of two artistic spirits, where all preconceptions of flashiness are pushed back to make way for a spirit: subtle, free and without the need to shout to be heard.

Dance of fabrics and melody
When Hoang – a member of One Plus One – sang in the video “Free Fall Tower”, the frame was filled with nothing but faces, light, and emotions. No elaborate technical effects, no complicated staging. All eyes were on the eyes and the slight movements at the corners of the lips – where the gentle sadness melted into each note.
In such a simple setting, the costumes cannot be a “decorative” detail – they must become a background layer that helps support the emotions. Root Rotation’s designs are not ostentatious but not hidden either: they are present enough to be a backdrop for the music, and at the same time become a bridge between the artist and the audience.
Monochromatic lighting, close-up framing, and minimal restraint – that’s where the visual language is at its strongest. Root Rotation, with its careful selection of gently draped fabrics, poetic neutral tones, and minimalist yet precise cuts, creates an emotional space where the artist doesn’t have to force himself – he just needs to be himself.

Exquisite design, genuine emotions
In the MV “Free Fall Tower”, Hoang wears an Origami Flower tank top by Root Rotation made from recycled spandex, combined with meticulous seams. The loose, sleeveless shape and moderate drape of the fabric make the body’s movements rhythmic, like a part of the music.
Every fold of the shoulder, every tilt of the head is enhanced by the monochrome light into a visual dance. No frills, no unnecessary details. The simplicity is intentional – to let the song’s emotions spread, not to be obscured by anything too “storytelling”.

Cool beige was chosen as the main color palette – bringing a breath of peace, acceptance and gentleness. It embodies the “embracing imperfections” mentality that both Hoang and Root Rotation cherish. Fashion, in this project, is not about impressing. It is about evoking, about feeling, about highlighting the unique beauty of fragile emotions.
Conclude
The collaboration between Root Rotation and One Plus One Band is a delicate slice of Vietnam's contemporary cultural landscape – where creative industries no longer operate separately, but blend and support each other.
Fashion is more than just a facade, and music is more than just a sound. When they meet at an emotional touchpoint, magic happens: the artist is able to be themselves, and the audience is able to enter a cleansing space where every emotion is worthwhile.

Perhaps, that is the new definition of luxury in today's era: a leisure to be real – whether through music, or through fabric.
